Don your gloves and get ready to... get dirty! Not always to be taken literally however.
In the Garden & Artfest 2010 workshop series a range of practitioners will give hands-on advice, and share their secrets. Topics include landscape design, attracting bees, the perfect lawn, making your own floral Christmas decorations, and taking the winning shot of your flower beds. There will be heaps of practical gardening and landscaping advice from the experts in these hour long sessions at The Cargo Shed, Dive Cr, Tauranga.

 |  | Close Up Floral Photography Photography artist and teacher, Jo Miller, will let you in on the secrets of capturing your floral gardening work in all its glory. If you are new to photography try the beginners’ session on Saturday, or for more advanced hobby photographers, the Sunday session will be better. Bring your own camera to these hands-on sessions. more info | Flower Feast Award-winning florist Anna Robertson will create Christmas-theme decorations in this demonstration workshop that will include tips and tricks learned in her work for society weddings and parties in England. Landscape Design for Beginners

To flourish our gardens need pollinators – mainly bees – and Geoff, who works with vintners keen on biological control, will share ideas on attracting beneficial insects into gardens. He will also dig into growing flowers, including drifts of wildflowers, from seed.

Andy will share his extensive lawn care knowledge gained from running his own turf-care business for 13 years. He also spent 2 years tutoring this topic. In this workshop he will advise on choosing the best grass for your situation, the right tools to use, and lawn care and maintenance.

Top Topiary with Claudia Gorringe
Claudia, owner of the award-winning topiary nursery, Standards of Excellence, will discuss plant choices, tools and maintenance. This workshop will touch on the history of topiary, and the practical demonstration will show shapes and styles.

Bonsai Basics with Poppie Engelbrecht
Poppie’s bonsai collection began when her husband-to-be gave her a miniaturised tree in 1984. The couple now have a large collection. In this workshop Poppie will share tips on how to get started, how to look after bonsai and some of the best species with which to work.
