The Sculptors

Sculptors from all over New Zealand exhibit around the shores of Tauriko’s The Lakes. A vast range of work will adorn this new outdoor sculpture exhibition ‘stage’ at this year’s Garden & ArtFest in Tauranga.

A teaser of what is in store can be seen on The STRAND in Tauranga's CBD, 2 large scale sculptures (faces in profile) have been erected opposite Masonic Park (see above picture in picture strip, 3rd from left). The work is by Whangaparaoa artist Rob Onnes. Rob began creating sculpture in 2007. He’s been working in steel and recently copper. These materials forge into substantial forms and yet they display an earthy, organic quality. Rob is fascinated with the clean sharp edges that can be made to mirror natural forms.
