Bay of Plenty Times – Art in the City

Art Walk

The Garden & Artfest 2010 spills into Tauranga’s downtown area with artwork displayed in shop windows. Large size floral and garden photographs by local artists Jo Millerof Gate Photography, will be shown in selected windows around town. Follow the walk and also discover the creations of the Fabulous Funky Flora Fashion – wearable garments made by professional and other skilled designers in a workshop held in conjunction with Tauranga Environment Centre. Start your walk at Creative Tauranga (cnr Willow and Wharf Sts) or follow the signs from any participating shop window.

Container Art

You won’t be tripping over these artworks in a hurry! Turn the corner and be surprised by the five container sized photographs in Tauranga, Katikati and Te Puke taken by night by Jo Miller. Jo called this series of 5 photographs Nature's Garden by Night, which needs to be remembered when seeing the billboard sized photographs.Adding a burst of garden colours to the urban landscape brightening up the day, these images symbolize the joy gardens bring to our lives and signal the 2010 Garden and Artfest is underway. Find the containers in Katikati next to the main road and the giant rugby ball, in front of Mt Drury at Mount Maunganui, Teh Strand in Tauranga on the reclamation car park, Pak'n' Save carpark in Papamoa and in Te Puke next to the main road by Andrea's China shop.
